Campin Mom

Interesting and entertaining observations on my life, kids, husband, friends, job, cropping and our wonderful campsite.

I have to say this summer seems to have been one of the fastest in history. We did a trip to the beach, a trip to the boardwalk and outside of a whole lot of camping trips, that was pretty much it. I just simply don't know where it went. And you know, the thing is, everywhere you go, people are saying the same thing. I just can't believe how fast it went this year.

We went shopping for school clothes for my son today and actually bumped into his teacher from last year, which was pretty cool. Shopping itself was sort of awful. In the dictionary, under the word torture it should say: v. jean shopping with a nearly ten-year-old boy. I still don't know if we got the right size of anything because after awhile he stopped showing me how they looked, and then flatly refused to try anything else on.

You know, summer vacation really is sort of an enigma, because from probably the middle of March, I so look forward to it, just to be able to have time to really reconnect with my boy. I think of all the fun stuff there is to do in the summer and how great it's going to be, then it gets here and it seems like I spend more time yelling at him to clean his room, practice his sax, do his book reports, stop antagonizing his sister, etc., and so on, than anything else. And all the fun stuff I dream of doing during the Winter doldrums doesn't seem to happen. If we get to the beach once, it's a lot. And the saddest part of all of it is that by the time we get to the last week of summer vacation, I can't wait for school to start, so he'll be out of my hair for part of the day. I wish there was a way to keep the magic of those dreams of summer, and to keep those high hopes of reconnection and then to make them really happen. But there's no point in worrying abou that now. Summer is officially kicked in the pants and it's time to start thinking about Christmas. ;)

Anyway, I guess that's all for now.

Hey Kim, this is cool. I have a myspace acct. but never sit down and do any blogs. I am laughing my butt off when I read your profile, the Bad Seed is one of my fave movies too and most people never heard of it. Kind of reminds me of Caitie?! Sike! Well keep up the good work, see u soon at Gymboree, we miss you guys, Caitie talks about Reese and Kayleigh a lot. Take care! Dawn P.S. I had to start an acct. to be able to make a comment, it's free right, LOL

Hey Dawn, you are my very first commenter (or is that commentater?)! Anyway, it's so cool that you're a Bad Seed fan. My brother made me stay up late one night when we were kids and we watched it together. It was summer and the windows were open, and we woke my Dad up because we were laughing so hard. I know it's not a comedy, but parts of that movie are just so funny. And I wouldn't worry about Caitie, she has her moments and any three year old does, but "Rhoda" she definitely is not. It's funny because as you and I get to know each other, the more hidden things I find that we have in common. What can I say, our Art Class is going to Rock! And yes, accounts are free on this. Otherwise, believe me, I wouldn't be doing this. But it really is alot of fun, and easy. You should start one too. Then I can be your first commentator! :)

Hello! I found you here through Jenny's comments - but I just wanted to say that I think we may live in different plains of reality because my summer was uber long! It transversed boundless lengths of time. Stretched to infinity! But I'm doing the one more week dance now! I'm sure by the end of next week, I will be complaining about how scheduled our evenings are! Well, off to do my Christmas list!
